Conference of Online Publishers for Akwa Ibom State (COOPA) don prepare well-well for one big accountability tour. Dis tour go start on January 21, 2025, and e dey aimed to promote transparency and check wetin Council Chairmen dey do for their local government areas for Akwa Ibom State.
The Chancellor, Utitofon Morgan, with Di help of the Secretary, Priscilla Akpanettot, dem talk say dis initiative na community-based project wey go help citizens to engage more and hold local government officials accountable. Dem go organize the tour based on Federal Constituency, wey go allow dem to check and showcase the policies and performance of the local government administration wey dey there now.
“We dey excited to start this accountability tour, wey dey aim to create open conversation between media, local government officials, and the communities wey dem dey serve,” Utitofon Morgan talk. “As we dey visit council secretariats, we go try make sure accountability dey shine and citizens fit talk their mind and expectations.”
As dem prepare for di tour, COOPA don recognize and dey welcome invitations from several Local Government Councils. Dem also dey urge other Council Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Secretaries to join body for dis important work. Dis initiative go bring light to wetin local governments don achieve and the wahala wey dem dey face, giving room for better feedback and improvement.
