Ibom Air Soars in Nigeria’s Aviation Market at Five Year

Gov Eno Commends Predecessor Udom Emmanuel’s Vision

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Umo Eno, heralded the fifth anniversary of the State-owned airline, Ibom Air, as a testament to excellence and a new standard in aviation service delivery. At a celebratory event in Uyo, Governor Eno expressed pride in the airline’s achievements, stating, “We want to congratulate you for conquering the market.”

Highlighting Ibom Air as the pride of Akwa Ibom State, Governor Eno paid tribute to his predecessor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, whose visionary leadership was instrumental in the airline’s inception and success. Eno emphasized that Emmanuel’s initiatives, including Ibom Air, have set the state on a path toward industrialization.

 

 

Governor Eno noted the airline’s significant milestones over the past five years, aptly captured by the event’s theme, “Celebrating the Journey and the Milestone.” He remarked, “In years to come, Akwa Ibomites will remember the giant steps taken by a governor who launched our state on the path of industrialization. Today, we celebrate Deacon Udom Emmanuel who started and realized this vision.”

The Governor also praised the ingenuity and commitment of Ibom Air’s Managing Director/CEO, Captain Mfon Udom, and his team for their relentless efforts in expanding the airline while maintaining high standards of service. He congratulated the management and staff for five years of uninterrupted excellence and challenged them to continue their stellar performance.

“On behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State, I warmly and wholeheartedly congratulate Ibom Air on five years of excellence in the skies. You have redefined service delivery and earned numerous awards in the sector. Your journey has been spectacular, putting Akwa Ibom on the global map.”

Governor Eno announced the imminent delivery of another aircraft from the ten A220s purchased for the airline, affirming his administration’s commitment to ensuring more deliveries within its first term.

In his anniversary speech, Ibom Air’s MD/CEO, Capt. Mfon Udom, reflected on his fifty years in the aviation industry, describing the last five years with Ibom Air as the most celebrated. He highlighted the airline’s growth from a five-person team to a 656-strong workforce and its significant economic contributions to the state. Capt. Udom also mentioned the forthcoming operation of the smart terminal building at Victor Attah International Airport, which will enhance Ibom Air’s capacity to expand to key West and North African destinations and facilitate smoother domestic and international flight interfaces.

The celebration culminated in a toast proposed by the airline’s chairman, Pastor Imo-Abasi Jacob, honoring the milestone of audacity, faith, limitless possibilities, anti-fragility, and resilience.
