BREAKING: Tinubu Approves N70K As New Minimum Wage

President Bola Tinubu has approved a new minimum wage of N70,000 for Nigerian workers, with a commitment to review the national minimum wage law every three years.

The announcement came during a scheduled meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja with the leadership of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC). Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Information and Strategy, issued a statement saying, “President Tinubu also promised to find ways to assist the private sector and the sub-nationals in paying the minimum wage.”

The decision was made public at the meeting held on Thursday in Abuja, marking the second time in seven days that the parties have convened. Labour leaders praised President Tinubu for this significant gesture, noting that he also vowed to address the demands of university unions seeking unpaid salaries for four months.
