COOPA CITIZEN’S TOUR: UBONG NKUTT SHOWCASE INFRASTRUCTURE PROGRESS, YOUTH EMPOWERMENT INITIATIVES FOR ITU
Since Ubong Nkutt assume office as Chairman of Itu Local Government on October 7, 2024, e don make significant improvements in di area, especially for human capital development and infrastructure. E don align with Governor Umo Eno ARISE Agenda wey focus on bettering lives.
Di Nkutt administration don focus well on building infrastructure for Itu. Dem don start di construction of a modern, one-storey administrative block wey go get 22 offices inside di Council Secretariat, and e dey almost complete.
On Wednesday, Ubong Nkutt give a breakdown of di work him administration don do so far when him meet members of the Conference of Online Publishers in Akwa Ibom State (COOPA), as dem come visit Itu for di Citizens’ Tour. E talk say him don renovate di Council legislative block to make work easier for di councillors.
Nkutt also talk about di work him don do for di Council perimeter fence, wey dem don remodel, plus di installation of solar-powered lights. Di Primary Health Centre for Mbak Atai also get attention, as dem don restore water facilities there.
Aside from di Council premises, Nkutt talk about di rural roads improvement. Him administration don sponsor di grading of roads across all 11 wards of Itu. Each ward get at least one road wey no go less than 500 meters long.
To support di youth, Nkutt talk about di training programmes wey him administration don organise to equip dem with skills wey go make dem compete with their peers across di state. One key initiative na heavy-duty equipment operations training, wey dem provide stipends to help youths cover transportation cost.
Nkutt also talk about a new online portal wey him administration don launch to make it easier for Itu indigenes to get their certificates of origin, no matter where dem dey in di world.
For di 2025 budget of di Council, Nkutt say e comprehensive, and e don include input from all di 11 wards during di preparation.
Di Chancellor of COOPA, Mr. Utitofon Morgan, wey also talk during di event, explain say di Citizens’ Tour dey help assess di activities of local governments and evaluate di performance of chairmen across di state. He also stress how important am for online publishers and local government leaders to work together to ensure di public dey well-informed about local governance.
