Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has extended his congratulations to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Assembly, the Judiciary, the Armed Forces, and all Nigerians in celebration of this year’s Democracy Day.
In a goodwill message conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Ekerete Udoh, Governor Eno expressed his heartfelt congratulations on behalf of the government and people of Akwa Ibom State. He commended President Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, on the 25th anniversary of Nigeria’s unbroken democratic rule.
Governor Eno highlighted the significant strides made in consolidating democracy in Nigeria, noting the deep internalization of democratic traditions and norms by Nigerians. He praised the 10th National Assembly, led by Senate President and Akwa Ibom’s own Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, for their collaborative efforts with the Executive Branch in advancing democratic ideals and prosperity.
The governor also acknowledged the Judiciary’s vital role in deepening Nigeria’s democratic processes and extended his gratitude to the Nigerian people, particularly the citizens of Akwa Ibom, for their steadfast faith in democracy.
Furthermore, Governor Eno thanked the Service Chiefs of the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies for their crucial role in upholding democratic values by adhering to civilian control. Reflecting on the past 25 years, he recognized the challenges and growth associated with nation-building and emphasized the progress made, which provides hope for the future.
Governor Eno called on Nigerians to continue supporting their leaders and to pray for the nation’s growth and development. He urged everyone to celebrate the country’s diversity as a strength and not as a source of division, citing the unity emphasized in Nigeria’s National Anthem.
In conclusion, Governor Eno reiterated his commitment to working tirelessly for the people of Akwa Ibom State, regardless of party lines, to deliver the benefits of democracy as outlined in the ARISE Agenda.
