Just In: Eket Residents Battle Devastating Floods

In a recent turn of events, Eket residents find themselves grappling with the aftermath of heavy rainfall that has unleashed havoc in various parts of the town. Areas such as Girls High School in Ikot Ibiok Eket and Edohoeket Street are among the locations severely impacted by the flooding.

The downpour, which commenced on Thursday day night and persisted until Saturday morning, till more downpours, has inundated homes in Edohoeket Street, causing significant damage to properties estimated at millions of naira. Mr. Samuel Esu, a resident of Edohoeket Street, expressed his distress over the situation, attributing the flooding to the inadequate management of water channels and the encroachment on drainage systems within the community.

Calling on the Akwa Ibom State government for assistance, Mr. Esu emphasized the urgent need for intervention as the residents struggle to cope with the escalating crisis.
