Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) councillorship aspirants in Akwa Ibom State recently took part in a rigorous Screening Exercise at the PDP State Secretariat Complex, Atan Offot.
The event, held on Friday, July 26, 2024, saw aspirants from the 368 delineated Wards by the Akwa Ibom State Independent Electoral Commission (AKISIEC) present themselves before a screening panel comprised of distinguished Akwa Ibomites.
Prior to the commencement of the exercise, PDP State Chairman, Rt. Hon. Aniekan Akpan, personally visited the Screening Panels to emphasize the importance of their patriotic duties. He urged the panel members to ensure fairness and transparency throughout the screening process.
The aspiring candidates arrived in large numbers, reflecting their dedication and commitment to the democratic process. The screening panel meticulously evaluated each candidate, assessing their suitability and dedication to represent their constituents effectively.
The event showcased the PDP’s commitment to promoting meritocracy and providing a level playing field for all aspirants. In a bid to ensure the selection of competent and credible candidates, the screening process was conducted with utmost diligence and adherence to democratic principles.
